PowerHouse Timing selected as registration provider for Head
Of The Charles.
Cambridge,
MA – February 18, 2003 – PowerHouse Timing today announced
that its online registration software will be used for the 2004
Head Of The Charles Regatta, America’s Fall Rowing Regatta®.
“Online registration when combined with
our timing service and software, can streamline the operations
of a regatta,” said Jason Moody of PowerHouse Timing.
A key benefit to the Head Of The Charles is
the ability to share the registration data with the timing system.
With prior regattas, significant effort was spent exchanging data
with excel spreadsheets or email. The PowerHouse system eliminates
the need for this manual task.
A key requirement for the Head Of The Charles
was that the registration software have the same look and feel
as their existing website. PowerHouse is providing a customized
version of its registration accessible through the Head Of The
Charles website. PowerHouse will provide user accounts for all
competitors, which can be used from one year to the next and include
the ability to see prior years guaranteed entries.
As part of the same Agreement, the Head Of
The Charles also selected PowerHouse Timing as the timing provider
for the 2004 regatta. PowerHouse will incorporate several new
results features allowing both competitors and spectators to view
their results as events progress. Individual clubs will be able
to view just their entries and results.
About PowerHouseTiming
PowerHouseTiming was founded by rowers to provide professional
services and software to regattas. Timing leadership at the Head
Of The Charles demonstrates PowerHouse Timing’s ability
to create software which makes rowing regattas easier to operate.
The PowerHouse Timing premier gold signature service assures a
higher standard of race timing. It is used to verify the accuracy
of entry times while the race progresses down the course as used
at the 2003 Head Of The Charles.
The PowerHouse Timing vision is robust software
with features the largest regatta can use but accessible by any
regatta.
About Head Of The Charles
The Head Of The Charles® regatta, the world's largest annual
two-day rowing event, was first held on October 16, 1965. The
race was established by Cambridge Boat Club members and assistance
of Harvard University sculling instructor Ernest Arlett. Arlett
proposed that a "head of the river" race, similar in
tradition to races held in his native England, be held on the
Charles River.
Today, 7,000 athletes (over 1,400 boats) from around the globe
compete in 24 different race events. With the generous support
of our sponsors and assistance from race managers, hundreds of
volunteers, numerous local colleges and universities, and the
Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR)
we together produce a World Class event that attracts more than
250,000 spectators.
The 40th Head Of The Charles regatta
will be held October 23-24, 2004
